From Russia, with Love

Siberians are the native cat of the country of Russia.  They are said to have been around for over one thousand years. Siberians were first imported into the United States in 1990. They were brought into the U.S. through an exchange program between breeders from two different countries.  A Russian cat fancier advertised in a magazine offering a tentative exchange of their native cat, the Siberian, in exchange for our Himalayans. An American breeder responded to the ad and so began the first imports that we have in the United States today.
These first imports spawned an interest in the Siberian breed allowing new fanciers to begin importing their own select blood lines, in turn, increasing and diversifying the gene pool.  In addition to their beauty, they also possess "hypo-allergenic" characteristics in which they don't produce as much dander as other breeds. This is due to a lack of the Fel-D1 in their saliva.  Many people in the United States and worldwide, suffer with allergies and asthma. Siberians with their unique characteristics enable some animal lovers to have a cat that was once unattainable.  Please contact us to learn more about this fascinating Forest Cat.
